The Art of the Ask
By Glendon Smith
I’ve been working at Christ’s Greenfield Lutheran Church & School in Gilbert, Arizona for a number of months and recently had the privilege of doing a podcast with Pastor Tim Ahlman and Pastor Jake Boessling. I was asked to explain the greater concept of “The Art of the Ask”. It is an honor to be serving and worshipping alongside the good people at Christ’s Greenfield. They are very fortunate to have Pastor Tim and Pastor Jake as they bring the WORD and energy that we all need and desire.
James D. Klote & Associates has been perfecting “The Art of the Ask” for over 100 years. Our approach is members of the church visiting each other in the privacy of their home, giving them an opportunity to ask questions and get answers. They too learn what is being proposed with the aid of a well-designed brochure and are able to give their opinions on the direction of the church. This visit creates a sense of ownership and a consensus that the vision by leadership is one they can support. While this process may seem a bit uncomfortable at first, it becomes a blessing and creates a sense of unity amongst those visited and those visiting. In order for the hopes and dreams of the church to become a reality, we will need many family’s to consider pledging on many different levels. I trust that the following podcast may shed some light on “The Art of the Ask”.
