Congregation Announces $30 Million Already Pledged At Kick-Off Event

Houston, Texas – During a combined worship service today at Christ The King Presbyterian Church of Houston, Texas, built in 2010, Rev. John Trapp, Senior Pastor gave a passionate sermon. He said, “We are Building Toward The Promise!” During worship about 850 worshippers marked the kick-off of a 3-year financial campaign to focus on a new and larger sanctuary, gymnasium, and a youth/community center.

At the end of the indoor service, we all proceeded outside to take communion together where John Trapp announced the campaign had already raised $29,897,800 towards a $50,000,000 master plan.

Themed “Building Toward The Promise”, and the scripture associated was “For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself”. Acts 2:39

Ryan Dolibois, one of the 6 Steering Committee Co-Chairs speakers at the program said, “each Christ The King household will be contacted in the next few months by a fellow member for a personal visit regarding the campaign”.

Glendon Smith, the consultant said, “this church has made me a better consultant and a better Christian!”

James Klote, President & CEO of James D. Klote & Associates said, “We are absolutely delighted the campaign is going so well. We are on our way to raising the $50 million goal. This will ultimately represent nearly 10 times annual giving!”

Prior to the program, the people of God shared a breakfast outside under a huge tent, enjoyed music with renewing friendships with those from the two services, and encouraging one another in faith and service to God. The campaign will run through 2028 with the hope of personally visiting every household in the congregation.
