I am one of the co-chairs for the fundraising campaign that Klote & Associates is directing at First Church in Milwaukee. As you’ve probably heard we had our public/patterned phase kickoff this last Sunday and it was spectacular. While I can’t give all the credit to Klote and, in particular, our consultant, it wouldn’t have happened without him. My credit sharing is only to acknowledge the amazing volunteers of the church that have worked at our Klote consultant’s direction.
During these last two months he has worked tirelessly to bring us to this point in the campaign. While still living in a transitional world between covid and normal, he has helped us identify and organize leadership for the the campaign, conduct a readiness assessment process that strategically informed the creation of a powerful case statement (view book}, and direct the quiet phase of the campaign that ended stupendously with $1,483,700 raised.
He has been clear and complete in his directing of the campaign and gently firm in keeping us on track. When learning revealed the need for slight course correction, he never hesitated to make adjustments that only enhanced the campaign trajectory.
It has been a pleasure to work with our resident consultant and a blessing to benefit from the many years of Klote campaign experience. I’m sure we’ll have more opportunity to reflect on this campaign undertaking as we move towards its finish but for now this is my story and I’m sticking to it.

Carmel Lutheran Church kicked off its ‘Hearts Compelled To Share’ capital campaign in record style. As of January 25th just 73 families of the more than 900 in the church had already committed $3.75 million dollars. That total represents not only the best kickoff to a campaign at CLC, it also represents the best campaign in total even though only 8% of the congregation has pledged so far.
The previous best campaign was just four years ago when CLC collected a total of about $3 million in pledges from over 425 donors.
