I am one of three Co-Chairs on our steering committee for the campaign. I know the consultant is updating you weekly, but thought you might like a view through another, different set of eyes.
I can tell you this is the 7th or 8th campaign I have been through at 3 different churches. I have participated, in a variety of ways from a typical participant, to selection committee, and overseeing board member.
This is certainly the most unique program I have ever been associated with and as I experience the process, I understand why the results can be so vastly different from other campaign styles.
The focus on people and relationships throughout the process from focus groups, to in-home meetings, to our eventual Kick-Off event, give this a very different feel from a typical campaign, and I believe strengthens our church family along the way.
The full time presence is also unique and very wise. This is where I tell you things I know you won’t hear from the consultant. He has been, and continues to be a blessing to us during this process. He has been a tremendous source of information, guidance, training and application of the best practices to accomplish our plan. He provides thorough leadership by example, motivation, support, and holds us accountable to our various goals and deadlines. He uniquely helps steer us in the right direction, while helping us make this program our own, and honestly has made himself a team member in a process that would be typically opposed to an outside consultant.
We feel blessed to be heading down this path, and can’t imagine utilizing any other process in the future. Thank you for your support and for the consultant… The process is working!

Carmel Lutheran Church kicked off its ‘Hearts Compelled To Share’ capital campaign in record style. As of January 25th just 73 families of the more than 900 in the church had already committed $3.75 million dollars. That total represents not only the best kickoff to a campaign at CLC, it also represents the best campaign in total even though only 8% of the congregation has pledged so far.
The previous best campaign was just four years ago when CLC collected a total of about $3 million in pledges from over 425 donors.
