My vantage point in working with the consultant has primarily been in my role as secretary of the Board of Trustees. Consequently, I’ve participated in planning and training sessions that he provided the Board, in the focus group sessions we conducted with the congregation, in preparations for the annual meeting when the congregation would vote on the Capital Campaign, and in other related meetings and gatherings. I’ve also been privy to his work indirectly as it’s been reflected back to us by the minister, the Dream Builders chair, the Capital Campaign chair, and others who have worked closely with him.
In a word, BRAVO! The consultant was the perfect fit for our leadership team and our congregation. I can’t imagine us embarking on such a major endeavor without him by our side. He provided expert advice and consultation, was always responsive, and provided invaluable behind-the-scenes support to the campaign leaders. I really noticed and appreciated his attention to detail in preparing written materials and making sure that we were ready for the focus groups and assisting with other church-wide communications. He helped keep us focused, and ensured a momentum that would sustain us and the congregation through the campaign.
The consultant’s personal style is very warm and engaging. That, too, was much appreciated as he got to know us and we, him. The relationships were forged very quickly, and there was a strong trust factor that was palpable.
I realize that in just a few more days the consultant will no longer be “in residence” at UUCSS and I can’t quite believe it. He’s really part of us now, and it will be hard to see him go. As I will say to him, I hope he will consider us a home-away-from-home whenever he’s in the area. He’s part of the UUCSS community now.
Thank you for selecting him to be the person from JD Klote & Associates to work with us. There couldn’t have been a better match!
Best wishes to you and to all those on your team for a lovely holiday season.
