I am a development professional with over 17 years in the profession. My wife and I are serving on the “Pattern Giving” team for our church’s capital campaign under the guidance and counsel of our Klote consultant.
He is a wonderful professional who has come into the church and sought to get to know us. I really appreciate his approach, as he guides us through this process. As you know well, every engagement is unique, because every church body is unique. He has been very intuitive in how he’s worked with our leadership and the rest of us on committees. There’s no “one size fits all” approach and I am thankful that you and your team understand this work so well. All along the way, he has given us great guidance and counsel while also keeping things moving.
You can also appreciate the fact that each client has a “cadence” to their work. In Houston, many of the largest philanthropic givers leave town to escape the heat and humidity in the summer months. Things pick up again in the early fall through the late spring, when we’re all here and the same goes for foundations. Our consultant has kept this campaign moving at a good pace and been a great motivator, teacher, encourager and more to us. You know this is the biggest campaign our church has ever undertaken, and we are a young church membership too. I have every confidence that we will meet, and very possibly exceed, our goals due to the wonderful counsel our Klote consultant is providing. There’s a real excitement as we build toward the “public” stage this fall.

Carmel Lutheran Church kicked off its ‘Hearts Compelled To Share’ capital campaign in record style. As of January 25th just 73 families of the more than 900 in the church had already committed $3.75 million dollars. That total represents not only the best kickoff to a campaign at CLC, it also represents the best campaign in total even though only 8% of the congregation has pledged so far.
The previous best campaign was just four years ago when CLC collected a total of about $3 million in pledges from over 425 donors.
