We just wanted to send you a quick note to commend the outstanding work of our Klote Consultant in support of the capital campaign at the Old Presbyterian Meeting House (OPMH) in Alexandria, Virginia. We are longtime OPMH members, and for the past few weeks we’ve had the pleasure of working with him on the steering committee that is heading up the outreach effort for the campaign.
We’ve been involved with previous capital campaigns at our church, and frankly we were skeptical of the value that an outside consultant would bring to our efforts. But he has made us believers! He has done a great job organizing, coordinating, and perhaps most importantly, motivating our efforts. His energy and enthusiasm, and his boundless optimism, have kept us on track with the campaign’s goals. In fact, with his help, we were able to secure initial pledges—in advance of the campaign’s formal kickoff on August 1—that exceeded two-thirds of the campaign’s total goal.
In addition to our JDK&A Consultant’s efforts for the campaign, he has taken the extra step of becoming an active member of our church while here. He has become a member of our summer choir for Sunday worship, and has been a constant and helpful presence around our church campus.
We have thoroughly enjoyed working with him on our campaign, and look forward to continue working with him over the next few weeks as he helps us to reach our final goals. Thank you for sending him our way, and for supporting him as he has helped us to move our church forward.

Carmel Lutheran Church kicked off its ‘Hearts Compelled To Share’ capital campaign in record style. As of January 25th just 73 families of the more than 900 in the church had already committed $3.75 million dollars. That total represents not only the best kickoff to a campaign at CLC, it also represents the best campaign in total even though only 8% of the congregation has pledged so far.
The previous best campaign was just four years ago when CLC collected a total of about $3 million in pledges from over 425 donors.
