I’m Alexa Fraser and I was on the committee that helped choose James D. Klote & Associates as consultants to the UUCSS campaign. I was very impressed by you and your presentation and the book you wrote. I was part of the unanimous vote to use Klote for our campaign. And yet I had a tiny worry. Would the person you sent really feel like one of us? As you probably noticed you were better dressed at your introductory meeting that anyone in the room probably was at their wedding…. We are a casual, short sleeves type of place, and someone would have to fit in stylistically and spiritually to deeply help us.
The answer is that you sent us the perfect person. The consultant fit right in and did amazing work for and with us. The campaign has been a success which I attribute to the hard work of our committee, and the depth of love of our community. Also, however I attribute it rather invisibly to the leadership, structure, experience and overall presence that the consultant provided. Analogizing to a choir, I never saw him strike a flat note, indeed at all times he was a member of the choir, but the somewhat unnoticed one who actually lifts the entire tenor section, and thus the whole choir to a whole new level. He provided leadership and incredibly hard work in the most understated and low key way. He fit in perfectly, he felt like one of us.
I hope you and the firm appreciate him as we all have. We’d keep him as a member of the congregation if we could. We really like that guy! Great fit for an assignment.

Carmel Lutheran Church kicked off its ‘Hearts Compelled To Share’ capital campaign in record style. As of January 25th just 73 families of the more than 900 in the church had already committed $3.75 million dollars. That total represents not only the best kickoff to a campaign at CLC, it also represents the best campaign in total even though only 8% of the congregation has pledged so far.
The previous best campaign was just four years ago when CLC collected a total of about $3 million in pledges from over 425 donors.
