Session Votes to Move Forward with 2024 Capital Campaign

Alexandria, VA – Twenty years after their last capital campaign, the Westminster Presbyterian Church Session voted to move forward with their 2024 Capital Campaign Building on Faith – Making a Difference.

This decision came after a 6-week Readiness Assessment which included several Focus Group Meetings. Members and friends of the church were invited to any or all of the 21 meetings where attendees saw a presentation of ideas and concepts for which leadership wanted their input and feedback. After the final meeting a video of the meeting presentation was posted to Westminster’s website for those who couldn’t attend.

Attendees appreciated the opportunity to be heard on issues concerning the church’s immediate future and its longer-term vision. Several possible campaign projects immediately received encouraging support while others were considered interesting but required additional information and fleshing out.

As a result, the initial campaign plan has a target of $7.5 million dollars with the potential of funds raised above the campaign’s target being used to implement additional building related projects. Funds from the campaign are underwriting development of a Master Plan by a highly regarded architectural firm. The firm’s work will be considered for inclusion in the campaign before the mid-March kick-off.
