Sylvania, OH – On Sunday, March 17th, Sylvania United Church of Christ held their St. Patrick’s Day themed Celebration Luncheon to officially kick off the public phase of their “Preserving Our Future for Ministry” Capital Campaign. With approximately 100 members and friends of the church in attendance, there wasn’t an empty seat in the banquet hall. During the Celebration Luncheon, Jeff Finch, co-chair of the capital campaign, announced that over $1.28 million dollars has been pledged from only 43 families during the Advance Phase of the campaign, putting Sylvania UCC comfortably over the 50% goal of the $2.24 million dollar campaign.
The “Preserving Our Future for Ministry” Capital Campaign will go to support deferred maintenance across Sylvania UCC’s campus—which includes pertinent priorities such as updating the HVAC system, repairing the elevator, replacing roofs and windows, and upgrading and adding new solar panels—while also donating up to 10% of all funds raised to support the Sylvania UCC’s long-standing mission work in the community.
During the Celebration Luncheon, Pastor Vern spoke about the need to maintain the health of the physical structure of Sylvania United Church of Christ in order to continue its mission of spreading Christ’s love as an Open and Affirming church and its dedication to social justice, equality, voting rights, and supporting local charities in the community.
“It is hard to quantify the joy and brightness that permeates throughout Sylvania United Church of Christ,” Gregory Chadwick, Campaign Director with James D. Klote & Associates, stated. “Sylvania UCC is a church of love.”
