Episcopal Church Announces Over $10 million Raised at Kickoff Event

Jackson, WY – St. John’s Episcopal Church in Jackson Hole announced, “A Legacy of Love” Campaign to rebuild & expand its primary mission and outreach program known as its Browse ‘n Buy facility.

On Sunday, August 20th, more than 250 community members came together to celebrate the official launch of St. John’s Episcopal Church’s “A Legacy of Love” campaign. During the festive brunch, which featured an Agape meal, live music, and carnival-themed activities for the youth, The Reverend Jimmy Bartz announced that over $10 million dollars has been pledged from only 50 families during the quiet phase of the project.

The fundraising effort will support the rebuilding and expansion of the building on St. John’s campus that houses Browse ‘n Buy, along with Jackson Cupboard, Recovery Community spaces, and housing.

“Browse ‘n Buy is a magnificent resource for our community, and the building is in dire need of restoration and improvement, so that the mission can continue to expand for another fifty years,” said Rev. Jimmy Bartz. “When folks new to our community ask me about Browse ‘n Buy, I usually say, ‘simply put, Browse turns discard into money and money into love.”

“A Legacy of Love” will carry on the vision of St. John’s Episcopal Church’s founding members by deliberately and faithfully building a campus that cares for this community. A Mission of St. John’s, Browse ‘n Buy is an upscale thrift retail store whose purpose is to assist the Jackson community. Browse ‘n Buy supports community outreach programs such as One22, Jackson Cupboard, Climb Wyoming, Community Safety Network, 12-Step Programs, Teton County School District, and many more.

Glendon Smith, the Campaign Director said “We have raised half of the campaign goal and did it from only 10% of the members! This is such a warm embracing place with a  wonderful group of people. I will be saddened to leave when this campaign has concluded”. The capital campaign is scheduled to continue until the remaining members have had own their personal visit by a friend from the church.
