Leander, TX – Following a 3-week Readiness Assessment/Feasibility Study, on December 9, 2019 the Elders at Leander Church of Christ unanimously voted to move ahead into a Capital Campaign with a goal to raise $2,500,000 for the construction of a new Christian Education Wing with dedicated teen space and repairs and renovations for existing buildings and grounds. The goal represents five times annual giving from a congregation of 185 families. Congregants attended seven Focus Groups held over three weeks to hear leadership’s vision for the project and share their feedback and opinions on the plans.
The new Christian Education Wing will include 2-3 classrooms and common area. It will be dedicated to teen use. Repairs and renovations will include a new roof for the Auditorium, built in 1985, repairs to its floor and redesign of its sound system. The project also includes plans to renovate the foyer of the Welcome Center, renovate restrooms including conversion of one to a family restroom, complete ongoing work in the Fellowship Hall, add a new façade to the front of the building, and move the playground from the back to the front of the building accessible only through adjacent children’s classrooms inside the building.
James D. Klote & Associates onsite Capital Campaign consultant Tom McAtee stated, “Leander Church of Christ is taking a major step to advance its youth and education ministries with a new Christian Education Wing while at the same time addressing major maintenance issues and renovations. These are familiar goals of church capital campaigns. Now they align with the vision of a motivated congregation for the church they call home.”
