LISLE, IL – The Triune God — Father, Son and Holy Spirit was worshiped today by Trinity Lutheran Church of Lisle, Naperville and Chicago at the Residence Hall and Recreation Center of North Central College. The event drew over 900 worshipers and marked the kickoff of a 5 year financial campaign to fund mission starts in Chicago’s Galewood neighborhood and in the growing South Naperville community, perform maintenance and improvements at the existing Kimberly Way and Green Trails sites in Lisle and position the congregation to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ for years to come.
Themed “Immeasurably More,” the campaign recognizes Almighty God’s power as expressed in Ephesians 3:20-21… “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.”
The service, led by Trinity pastors Nick Price, Dan Grissom, Dave McGinley, Tony Dieckmann and Mike Curtis, featured a Statement of Belief from the ancient Apostles Creed, responsive readings from the Psalms, Bible readings from Joshua 24 and Ephesians 3, a time of prayer featuring the Lord’s Prayer and a prayer for the campaign and a sending blessing.
Senior Pastor Mark Schulz preached from Isaiah 43:2… “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you,” teaching from God’s Word that He will be with us at the hour of our death (the fire), in the crises and triumphs of life (the rivers), and in every moment of our daily lives (the waters). Pastor Schulz said, “the campaign is going very well, we just have a lot more work to do!”
The worshippers joined together with loud and passionate voices to sing to the Lord. A hallmark of Trinity congregation, choirs, musical ensembles and worship bands came together with all the people of God to sing “From All that Dwell Below the Skies,” “You are Good,” “How Great Thou Art/How Great is our God,” “What a Beautiful Name,” and finished with resounding praise “In Christ Alone (with the Solid Rock).” Members were heard saying “we should get together like this more often!”
Trinity has selected James Klote & Associates (JDK&A) to direct the campaign. “The enthusiasm was so high, that additional folks who had pledged were volunteering to help make the visits,” said Glendon Smith, Consultant for JDK&A. Trinity has selected James Klote & Assoc. to direct the campaign.
Afterward, the people of God feasted together, renewing friendships with those from various sites, and encouraging one another in faith and service to God. The campaign will run through October with the hope of personally visiting every household in the congregation.
