Del Mar, CA – St. Peter’s Episcopal Church launched its 2015 GIFTS FOR GROWTH campaign with a special Saturday, family friendly dinner – Faith, Family and Fettuccini. It was an evening filled with acknowledgements to the hard work already accomplished, the unique position St. Peter’s holds in the celebrant’s lives, and a glorious celebration of St. Peter’s 75th anniversary set to begin in December.
GIFTS FOR GROWTH is the theme of the campaign, which kicked off the evening of November 7th. Dining tables in Parrish Hall were brightly decorated with floral center pieces of the season. Nearly one hundred thirty members filled the Hall, enjoying specialty Italian dishes prepared by California Pizza Kitchen, a nationally recognized leader in innovative pasta and pizza dishes. Mother Paige greeted the celebrants and opened the festivities with prayer.
Dan Donoghue served as Master of Ceremonies. Following dinner, Dan recalled the various planning phases St. Peter’s has gone through to arrive at the campaign Kick-off. The development of the Strategic Plan, the Campus Development Plan and the Feasibility Study were, “the building blocks of St. Peter’s design for the future.”
Campaign Co-Chairs, Kathryn Brinton and Anne Iverson-Peltier, reminded attendees that seventy-five years ago faithful servants built a small church of redwood overlooking the Pacific. Today it is home to over forty ministries and numerous formation opportunities. They shared that, “our joy of participating in the GIFTS FOR GROWTH campaign far exceeds our contributions.”
As the event’s program was coming to a conclusion, Kathryn and Anne assured attendees that GIFTS FOR GROWTH volunteers have been working diligently in advance of the Kick-off to get the campaign underway. Anne announced that over six hundred thousand dollars in pledges had already been received. The news of the initial pledges was met with an enthusiastic response. The evening came to a conclusion with Kathryn and Anne leading parishioners as they recited the Campaign Prayer.
Campaign Coordinator, Wayne Spaulding of James D. Klote and Associates summed the evening up when he observed, “If we can carry forward the joy and enthusiasm demonstrated here tonight, we’ll have a campaign worthy of St. Peter’s.”
