Indianapolis, IN – St. Paul’s Episcopal Church celebrated the launch of their For the Future…Giving Today…Empowering Tomorrow combined Annual Stewardship and Capital Campaigns with a joint 10:00am worship service, followed by a short program in which Steering Committee Co-Chairs Merilee Klootwyk and Ace Yakey announced $1.7 million in Capital Campaign pledges and $308,000 in annual stewardship pledges (a 21% increase from 2015’s annual pledges). The results come from fewer than thirty-five pledges to each campaign. The Rev. John Denson concluded the program by asking parishioners to “imagine St. Paul’s in the future when a Center for Faith, Justice and the Arts will respond to issues of domestic violence, racism, guns…systemic needs of our city, our nation and our world. Imagine an off-site facility where people can gather for yoga classes, study programs, social activities and form a worshipping community. Imagine that worshipping community joining us here at St. Paul’s. Truly, we can be what St. Paul’s rector, the Rev. Gustav Carstensen foresaw over a century ago…not a parish for any one neighborhood, but shall have a constituency representative of the whole city. Ours will be the church for strangers.” Singing Lift High the Cross, parishioners adjourned to the Parish Hall for a festive time themed celebration. The combined Annual Stewardship and Capital Campaign is being directed by James D Klote & Associates.
