Lynchburg, Virginia – During August and September, several Focus Group Meetings & Personal Interviews were conducted where every member was personally contacted and encouraged to attend. A full presentation was given, including a brief history of First Presbyterian Church & FPC Weekday School, a list of current ministries, service opportunities and other interests, along with the needs and opportunities, and the leadership’s vision of how to address these concerns.
Prior to the vote, First Presbyterian Church’s Senior Pastor, Peter Thompson enthusiastically said, “I am so confident that the Session would enthusiastically approve to embark upon the largest-ever major Capital Project Campaign in the history of the church.”
Kathryn Pumphrey, Session member and chair of the Capital Campaign, stated, “I know we all look forward to working with you on this very important campaign!” She and her steering committee also voted to recommend using James D. Klote & Associates which affirmed the sentiments of the Session to take the next step and proceed with a capital campaign to continue the conversation.
Each individual and/or family within the church will be contacted for a personal visit. First Presbyterian is hoping, as a result of the campaign, to be able to renovate their world class organ, replace their steeple, renovate other areas, renew sidewalks and parking lot, and to increase evangelism and outreach.
“We are honored to have been selected by Rev. Thompson and the Session to provide our Capital Stewardship Consulting Services to First Presbyterian Church of Lynchburg, Virginia,” said Jim Klote, President of James D. Klote & Associates.
