School Campaign Raises Over $5.3 Million With Another $1 Million Dollar Gift!

Cincinnati, OH – Another $1 million commitment has been received by Bethany Episcopal School in Cincinnati, Ohio for their first-ever Capital Campaign.  That makes three 7-figure gifts since the campaign started for the only Episcopal elementary school in Ohio.

The latest gift was a grant from the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Ohio.  Previous million dollar commitments came from another educational foundation in the Cincinnati area as well as a private donation from the Carruthers family who have children at the school and who started off the 7-figure parade!

Since Bethany School had never conducted a Capital Campaign before and did not even have a development department, significant preparatory work began in 2016 using the services of James D. Klote & Associates and consultant Steve Siegel.  A thorough Readiness Assessment was conducted to gauge support for the project, a campaign committee was established, leadership was trained and coached in the fundamentals of fund raising, a development department was established, and initial gifts were solicited.  A public Kick-Off took place in March of 2017.

The project at Bethany involves a master site plan for two new classroom buildings as well as a new computer lab, library and dining hall.  Numerous green projects are also planned for the campus including a geothermal well project that will heat and cool the entire school plus the buildings for the Community of the Transfiguration – the order of Episcopal women who started the school 100 years ago.

Pledges are still being solicited to fund phase one of the master site plan.  Currently, a $400,000 matching gift will allow every new donation to be matched dollar for dollar until the entire $400,000 is gone.  To date the campaign has raised over $5.3 million dollars.
