Presbyterian Church Votes Unanimously to Proceed with Capital Campaign

Anderson, SC – James D. Klote & Associates, Inc. (JDK&A) is pleased to announce that the Session of First Presbyterian Church Anderson voted unanimously to immediately begin the Advanced Phase of the “Building on Faith” Capital Campaign.  The four-week Readiness Assessment included 14 Focus Group meetings where feedback from the entire congregation was sought.   The capital needs required to see this new vision take shape are significant but as one member said, “This is a huge need for us!  Let’s do it!  It is now this generations time to leave a strong legacy for the future, and those we have not yet met.”

The largest part of the plan is to construct a new gathering space and an accessible and recognizable entryway.  With more than 10 entry doors to the main building, it is challenging for newcomers and visitors to know where to go and it is difficult to make connections.  This new multi-purpose entrance hall will serve as a hub for strengthening relationships and further developing a welcoming congregation.  Full ADA accessibility, including restrooms and a large, modern elevator, will ensure that all members and visitors will be able to worship together.  This building can also be used before and after weddings or funerals as greeting space or for other yet to be thought of purposes.

Dr. Dennis Tedder, Senior Pastor of First Presbyterian Church.  “We are excited to see what the Lord has in store for us as we build on another leap of faith, leaving a legacy for those who will come in the next generations.”

In addition to this new construction, several areas needing renovations have been identified in the Sanctuary and education wing of the church.  With older buildings, some dating back to the late 1800’s, ongoing maintenance and modernization is essential to secure their usefulness for future decades.

The Session at First Presbyterian Church has asked JDK&A to assist and guide their efforts through this “Building on Faith” Capital Campaign initiative.  Consultant, Dan Reese, is providing full-time, resident service for the duration of the campaign.
