Parish Vestry Votes Unanimously to Enhance A Legacy of Love

Jackson, WY– Over one hundred and six years ago, St. John’s Episcopal Church was built in the heart of Jackson. Their history and legacy are rich with many programs and outreach in the community and well beyond.

The Reverend Jimmy Bartz said, “I am so excited the Vestry continues to vote unanimously to embark upon their largest-ever major Capital Stewardship Campaign in the history of the church”.

John Millar, the Vestry Treasurer, said that “our consultant has been extremely flexible in setting up meetings and that’s really helped us engage the congregation by ensuring their smooth running”.

This decision came after several Focus Group Meetings where everyone was encouraged to attend. A full presentation was given including a brief history of St. John’s, a list of current ministries and service opportunities. A second presenter listed the needs and opportunities along with the vision of leadership to address these concerns. Architectural Renderings and estimated investments were given to complete the presentation. Then folks were given time to ask questions and to make comments, and filled out a brief questionnaire, which were recorded and compiled in a final report. Many people said how much they enjoyed getting together and they learned a lot about SJC and the history. The members were glad to be updated on the status of the campus and state of the financials. They were asked, “What Opportunities do you see for St. John’s Episcopal Church?”

Each of the individuals and families within the church will be contacted for a personal visit. The church is hoping and dreaming because of the ensuing campaign to be able to build a new Browse ‘N Buy building (Browse ‘N Buy first began on November, 4 of 1972) including space for Jackson Food Cupboard (which began in 2001), Jackson Hole Recovery Community (began saving lives in 1960), and Housing.

Fr. Jimmy is fully engaged and optimistic about the wonderful possibilities. He became the Rector in 2016.

St. John’s has asked James D. Klote & Associates to assist and guide their efforts. “St. John’s is a vital part of the community. The Focus Group Committee has never been so enthusiastic, and the members as involved as they have on this effort according to the leadership,” said Glendon Smith, JDK&A Consultant.

“Our consultant has continued to provide us with first rate, platinum level service that hasn’t interrupted our regular mission and ministry at all,” stated Fr. Jimmy Bartz.
