After 30 Years First Presbyterian Church Celebrates Family Center Approval
Fort Lauderdale, FL – First Presbyterian Church, received unanimous approval from the Planning and Zoning Board (P&Z) allowing the church to build a Family Center, parking garage and retail shops. First Presbyterian is located one block from prestigious Los Olas Boulevard in the Colee Hammock neighborhood. The vote culminated ten years of arduous work on behalf of the church during which they conducted a Readiness Assessment Study and Capital Campaign, directed by James D. Klote & Associates. The successful campaign raised over $16 million, allowing the church to move forward with their vision.
Discussion of the need for a Family Center began thirty years ago. To achieve their goal, the church purchased various parcels of land surrounding their property. During the ensuing years, zoning laws were changed to exclude church use. In order to develop their properties, a Planned Unit Development (PUD) designation was required. The recent vote by the P&Z affirms the church’s mission to the neighborhood.
