Oakton, VA – On Saturday, February 7th, the volunteer team of The Unitarian Universalist Church of Fairfax (UUCF) announced that over $1.5 million dollars had been pledged during the quiet phase of the project. Congregation members and friends joined together to celebrate the official launch of “The Bridge Campaign” with a fellowship dinner dance, entitled Through the Decades, celebrating 70 years of welcome, connection, and transformation.
The fundraising effort represents the values of UUCF members by stewarding resources, expanding the welcoming atmosphere, and strengthening the overall campus facilities. Attendees enjoyed a festive decades-themed dinner dance hosted at Virginia Theological Seminary, which featured a buffet dinner, live band, dancing, and activities for youth.
The Bridge Campaign is overseen by the UUCF Board of Directors, the Campaign Steering Committee, chaired by Anthony and Peter Salvi-Exner, and Reverend David Miller. “This church has long been a beacon for our community, inspiring and connecting a diverse group of like-minded individuals. It is our family’s home, and it is truly an honor for us to help lead this campaign. Our hope is to sustain and strengthen this much-needed community for generations to come,” said Anthony Salvi-Exner.
Campaign funds will be used for critical facility needs, such as upgraded HVAC, expanded sanctuary space, A/V enhancements, and roof upgrades, while securing the financial future of the church through strategic financial plans, such as mortgage pay-offs.
Eric Welch, the Campaign Director from James D. Klote & Associates said, “The energy of the members and friends of UUCF is palpable. This fantastic group of people continues the long tradition of leading their values throughout not only in Fairfax, but throughout the Washington DC area.”
This campaign is scheduled to continue until the remaining members have had their own personal visit from a friend from the church.
