Las Vegas, NVNearly 1,200 members and regular attendees of Community Lutheran Church gathered last weekend to kick off the 39-year congregation’s largest-ever capital stewardship campaign. The two-day Kick-off event started in the sanctuary and chapel, and then people were ushered into the fellowship hall, where tables were decorated and a pulled pork dinner was served. Attendees enjoyed a wide variety of musical entertainment in the fellowship hall as well. Hand-addressed envelopes with personal invitations had been sent to all church members and regular guests, and all who attended were greeted with a warm welcome and a place set just for them.
An extended time of fellowship, an excellent meal, meaningful worship, heartfelt testimonies, and a compelling challenge to love God first and be a place of forgiveness and grace all contributed to the inspiring weekend. Following the event those who attended could be heard saying, This is the largest dinner event I can ever remember having here, and It was so great to be with our church family tonight and to celebrate all that God has done and is doing in the life of our church.

Following last weekend’s event, every individual and family member or regular guest of the church will be contacted for a personal visit. Campaign Consultant Glendon Smith said, The program that Dr. Mark and the worship team presented to the congregation was so inspiring, that folks came out of the sanctuary and chapel looking for members of the Steering Committee and other Volunteer Visitors so they could get their personal visits scheduled right away. CLC is hoping as a result of the campaign to be able to eliminate its mortgage, thereby freeing up almost $500,000 each year for additional ministries and outreach.
