I am a member of First Baptist Church, Terre Haute, IN. I have been privileged to work on the Capital Campaign with fellow church members and your consultant.
Our church had been working for several years to review all aspects of our church life and governance. Because of my particular interest and supposed skills, I worked on various committees and was responsible for a study and revisions that were made to our Constitution. I did not intend to participate in any money raising projects for our proposed buildings and renovations. I was willing to participate in the focus group sessions, but that is as far as I wanted to go.
It was during those sessions that I began to appreciate the skills and talent that the consultant brought to the group and our efforts. As you can imagine, when you put groups of folks together you will have everything from those who want to do it their way to those who come up with some very off the wall proposals…and, there is always the group who says it cannot be done no matter what.
The consultant came in with a plan. He held us to the plan and would not let us veer off track. He was organized, provided leadership and became one of us. He has spent more hours in our church in the last few months than some have in many years.
Despite my initial refusals, the consultant persuaded me to be a visitor with him and we spent many pleasant hours together visiting those who would let us come. He was always focused on the goal and, as a result, we see a successful conclusion approaching. I fully believe that we would not have achieved the success that we see without the consultant and his vision, leadership and understanding of us. He prompted us to achieve and brought out the best in those participating.
I know that he represents the best values of your company and we appreciate all that he has done on your behalf.

Carmel Lutheran Church kicked off its ‘Hearts Compelled To Share’ capital campaign in record style. As of January 25th just 73 families of the more than 900 in the church had already committed $3.75 million dollars. That total represents not only the best kickoff to a campaign at CLC, it also represents the best campaign in total even though only 8% of the congregation has pledged so far.
The previous best campaign was just four years ago when CLC collected a total of about $3 million in pledges from over 425 donors.
