Thought I’d send a quick note from Michigan regarding our current campaign. We’ve enjoyed very much having our campaign director. The campaign is going well. It’s going differently than envisioned, but it’s going well.
I’ve appreciated having the director on site because I’m in a busy season of life. I’ve been training for an Ironman, doing work on my doctorate, have four young kids, a busy church, wife working outside the home, etc. In other words, I didn’t want to coordinate a campaign. I love that the director has handled the logistics so well. He and I have developed a good “mojo.” He lets me know when he needs me to write something or when I have to assert my senior pastor muscle for a special announcement or the like. It works out really well.
The director has also been very respectful of our culture, and complimentary. I don’t doubt he sees things that he would do quite differently, based on his pastoral experience. He has never been condescending. He understands each church is different. I respect and appreciate that very much.
All in all, things are well. I’m hoping we finish strong the next month and a half. I think we’ll have a big push the last four weeks when folks who’ve been putting us off for a visit realize this needs to get done.
