As Senior Warden of Christ Episcopal Church, I would like to thank you for assigning us our Capital Campaign manager. From the very beginning his knowledge, enthusiasm, and support have been critical to our activities. I got to know and work with him early in the campaign during the feasibility study, when the school was unable to start its focus groups because of spring break. The church went ahead and lead off the feasibility phase with our focus groups and I was the leader for all of those. I enjoyed working with the consultant as we tweaked the presentations, dealt with both expected and unexpected questions, and reviewed the results. His professionalism gave a credibility to the presentations that might otherwise have been brushed off as “dreaming the impossible dream.” As we moved into the visit training and quiet phase, he was our cheerleader, coach, and inspiration. When we felt were facing an impossible goal, he buoyed our spirits. When we had successes, he celebrated with us. When we encountered difficult situations, he was there with advice, and occasionally consolation. The amount of work he did behind the scenes was phenomenal, keeping us organized and on track. I think it is safe to say that at the outset none of us believed that $4.5 million was going to be achievable. Having reached almost $2 million in the quiet phase, with much of the school remaining to be contacted, we now see that $4.5 million is possible. And if we don’t achieve it, it will be because we didn’t do what the consultant taught us we needed to do!
