Unitarian Universalist Church, Silver Spring, MD Kicks-off “Answer the Call” Capital Campaign

Silver Spring, MD – The Unitarian Universalist Church of Silver Spring Maryland kicked off its “Answer the Call” Capital Campaign with a dinner event filled with food, speakers, music, and great anticipation. Senior Minister Elizabeth Lerner Maclay shared about the vision for UUCSS to a large group of members and friends of the church. The events keynote speaker, Rev. Megan Foley, spoke of the influence and impact of the church and its current strategic opportunity. The highlight of the evening came as the amount raised was revealed to the guests; it was met with enthusiasm and excitement.

After the Kick-off Erik Leaver, Capital Campaign Chairman remarked that, “It’s amazing to unlock the tremendous creativity, passion and love that our congregants have for the Unitarian Universalist Church of Silver Spring. Truly everyone is helping ‘Answer the Call’ for our Capital Campaign.” Jim Paoletti, Vice Chairman for the campaign remarked that, “Our Kick-off event was inspirational and great fun, and gives us energy and momentum as we reach out to every member of our community to Answer the Call.”

Senior Minister Rev Elizabeth Lerner Maclay said, “This is a church with courage and heart and commitment, to its own future and to the future of our liberal faith. I am both proud and humbled to serve a church like this. And I’m full of anticipation for the new capacities our building campaign offers all of us, our adult members, our children and youth, those of us already at UUCSS and those who will come in the future.”

Barbara Eyman Chairman of the UUCSS board added, “This is a big step for our congregation, but we have proven consistently that we do, in fact, answer the call when it comes. I am so excited to see what we will accomplish this time.”
