Rhinebeck, NY – The Rededication service for Church of the Messiah in Rhinebeck, NY was officiated by The Rt. Rev. Andrew M.L. Dietsche and The Rev. Richard McKeon September 10, 2022. Hundreds of parishioners, friends, designers, and contractors were present for the dedication on Saturday.
The rededication service was for the historic church as well as the 1921 E.M. Skinner Organ, a gift to the parish by Vincent Astor in memory of his father John Jacob Astor IV, who died in the sinking of the Titanic.
A plaque will be placed in the Narthex of the church commemorating the extraordinary generosity and support in enabling to save the church. It reads:
The congregation of the Episcopal Church of the Messiah with the support of the community members and organizations undertook the restoration of the church building which was in danger of being lost. Without the generosity, commitment, and courage of everyone who supported the project, it could never have been successfully completed. We have preserved this building so others who come after us may enjoy its beauty and celebrate its witness to God’s presence here in this place.
