St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Proceeds with Capital Stewardship Campaign

PRESS RELEASE

For Immediate Release
March 1, 2018

New Smyrna Beach, FL – With a history spanning nearly 250 years, St. Paul’s was the first Episcopal congregation established in what is now the state of Florida.  There were many starts and pauses in the ensuing years; however, the essence and intent of the founding families continue to this day.

The people of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church have faced many challenges throughout the years, but have continued to thrive and become a strong, vibrant congregation with many ministries and programs that influence their community and beyond.  Beginning in January 2018, a series of ten Focus Group meetings were held to inform and inspire the congregation regarding the needs and opportunities to promote the vision and mission of the church and determine if now is the time to embark on a Capital Stewardship Campaign.  The meetings were informative for the congregation, and provided excellent input and feedback for leadership.

The main priority, as identified by the Vestry, is to replace the undersized and outdated building used by the St. Paul’s Preschool.  The Preschool has been in operation for the past 40 years and has provided a quality, Christ-centered education to more that 2,000 children in their formative years of development.  Additional needs identified and included in the presentation, are to upgrade the existing Preschool building, to be used as a dedicated outreach center; along with the replacement of the Parish Hall to increase its capacity by fifty percent, which will provide quality space for the next generations to fulfill the Great Commission in New Smyrna Beach.

At the completion of the Focus Groups and after reviewing the Readiness Assessment Report, Father Rodney Roehner and the Vestry have unanimously agreed to immediately begin the “Building for Future Generations” Capital Stewardship Campaign.  Father Rodney remarked, “The well-attended Focus Groups enabled us to garner many helpful insights about the hopes and desires of the body of Christ at St. Paul’s.  The widespread enthusiasm for our vision for the future of this parish led to excellent feedback that has enabled us to further define our direction. The people of St. Paul’s have embraced the legacy we are striving to leave for those who will come to the knowledge and love of Christ in this place, and we are pursuing a successful Capital Stewardship Campaign to support that mission.”

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church has asked James D. Klote & Associates to assist and guide their efforts.  St. Paul’s is an important part of the community and excited about their new opportunities for outreach and ministry to the neighborhood.
