Alexandria, VA – St. Luke’s Episcopal Church completed the “Reweaving the Fabric of St. Luke’s” Capital Campaign in June of 2010 for much needed renovation. The Master Plan included making changes in the area of Worship & Music, Fellowship & Hospitality, Education & Youth and Mission Essential. The benefits of this endeavor will create a more sacred and spiritual atmosphere, enhance opportunity for growth, provide modern space for ministries, preserve & protect the structural investment and improve administrative operations & security. The campaign was a success due to the commitment of Rev. Ellis T. Bowerfind, Rector; John R. Young, Campaign Chair; other church leaders and members of the parish.
As stated by the Rector, “With good humor and spiritual grounding, our consultant provided the consistent quality of message, presence, support, encouragement, and motivation, our parish leaders needed to grow in confidence about our purpose and our ability to achieve it.” Rev. Bowerfind also stated that “In many cases, both leaders and those they visited become energized by conversations about stewardship in general, and money in particular, that they had always avoided in the past. We have been left not only with a fund for renovating the building, but with new human capital with which to continue to build up the Church to God’s glory and the welfare of our neighbors.”
John Young stated, “Our campaign was very successful in that we were able to make personal visits to over 200 parish families and received pledges of almost twice that of any other campaign. The James D. Klote plan works!”
