Lawrenceville, NJ – James D. Klote & Associates is happy to announce that The Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville kicked off their “Our Hope for Years to Come” Capital Campaign on Sunday, November 4, 2018. Over 150 people were in attendance, including members from Temple Micah, a Jewish congregation who has also called the church “home” for the past 50 years.
At the Sunday worship service, Pastor Jeff Vamos shared how the church’s 320-year history has made not just an impact in the lives of the congregants, but also the community in many amazing ways, including the founding of the Lawrenceville School and Eggerts Crossing Village, as well as its foundational support for Harmonie Ministries in Haiti. The service included beautiful brass music and a powerful testimonial from a congregant about the impact the church has had in his life.
The Kick-Off was held immediately after the service in the Fellowship Hall. Attendees were treated to bluegrass music and lunch provided by the 3 restaurants that are working with the church’s CookWell Job Training Program to provide culinary instruction and job placement for ex-offenders. Funds raised in this campaign will support maintenance and restoration of the historic church as well as updates that will include air conditioning, enabling the church to be used year-round. The campaign includes financial support of both local and international mission work, as well as endowment funds. Increased program space and the addition of a 2nd floor is also planned to continue to expand outreach, especially in the area of counseling.
The Keynote Speaker, Eleanor Horne, spoke about the importance of affordable, available counseling in today’s society and applauded the church for all it has done in the past and for taking this step to reach out to others beyond its walls. Pastor Vamos shared his desire to see the church continue its legacy of being an integral part of the community and continue to grow and thrive, by finding innovative solutions to the most pressing problems facing our society. He spoke about how the campaign will enable the church to fully implement its vision to create a community center, called The Community Well, which was the result of its strategic planning process.
“This campaign is all about growing our membership, by serving our community. We are thrilled that we will not only be able to modernize our facilities to become more welcoming, but we will also be able to fully realize this innovative strategy to reach people based on their needs through the programming of The Community Well. I am so pleased that we have such a good start, by raising almost $1.2 Million to kick off the campaign,” said Pastor Jeff Vamos.
Co-Chairs Wendy and Ted Simpson and Nancy and Steve Jusick thanked all those who had helped them to get to this event and invited children to come forward to make the announcement that $1,135,000 had been already raised to support the projects and plans that total almost $3 million.
