Crystal Lake, IL – The members of First Congregational Church of Crystal Lake met on August 25th to consider undertaking a capital campaign.
In a packed Fellowship Hall, congregants unanimously approved the church Council’s recommendation to retain the serves of James D. Klote & Associated to conduct a capital campaign. The Council’s recommendation followed the firm’s successful completion of a major capital campaign Feasibility Study.
Head Pastor, Eric Fistler said of the study and vote, “First Congregational Church really needed to conduct a thorough evaluation of both our ability to raise funds and the community’s commitment to conducting a capital campaign. Klote & Associates did an outstanding job presenting the church’s needs through a series of focus group meetings. The congregation’s unanimous vote to move forward with a campaign expresses the confidence members have in the Klote firm.”
The Klote campaign director, Wayne Spaulding, reported, “First Congregational Church has served Crystal Lake since the 1840’s. The members are keenly aware of their heritage and have taken steps to ensure it continues.” The bulk of the campaign’s $3.5 million will address deferred maintenance needs.
Another element in the forthcoming capital campaign is a provision to raise and contribute $1.5 million to the building maintenance endowment. Klote & Associates will further support endowment growth by assisting with the implementation of a legacy program to stimulate future giving.
