First Baptist Church Votes Overwhelmingly to Proceed With a Capital Campaign

Morehead City – On Sunday, May 15, following both regular church services, the entire member congregation of First Baptist Church of Morehead City voted a 75.5 percent majority to immediately move forward into a capital campaign for present building restoration and a new welcome center.

Generations of this historic 143-year old church in the resort city are no strangers to expanding and building since their founding. Their most recent projects date back to 1949 with a major building addition, 1069 with yet another and 1995 when they completed a beautiful family life center.

Excited about this overwhelming vote, Preston Garner, Finance Chair with FBC was overheard saying, “This is one of the largest positive majority votes in the last few generations of our church!” There was much excitement when the results were announced.
