Fort Collins, CO – Foothills Church located in the heart of Fort Collins, Colorado, kicked off it’s “Building for Courageous Love” Capital Stewardship Campaign with a Sunday Service celebration filled with food, speakers, and warm fellowship. Rev. Gretchen Haley and Campaign Chair Sue Ferguson gave inspirational addresses, sharing Foothill’s vision for the future to over 500 members and regular attendees. Gretchen noted: “Of our $8 million goal, we have already raised $3.4 million! That’s over 40% of the way there. Thank you to all those who had those initial conversations and helped get us off to a really strong start. This is just the start though. Between now and the first of February, we are asking everyone involved at Foothills to be a part of this effort.” Later, Gretchen wrote: It’ll have to go down as one of my favorite moments at Foothills….that moment on Sunday when we first shared that we had raised $340K to kick off our capital campaign, and then Sue Ferguson ran to the end to make it clear that actually, we’ve actually raised $3.4 million…! The gasps of amazement were in that moment – audible. And the joy and excitement were palpable!
Campaign Chair Sue Ferguson noted, “When Gretchen asked me to serve as the Campaign Chair, I thought immediately of the time in 2011 when I challenged Foothills to do something bigger than we’d ever done before. To host homeless families in the church four times a year and to be a part of launching Faith Family Hospitality. It was a big ask, and I wasn’t sure we were ready for it. But you said yes. And today, 8 years later, Faith Family continues – with over 35 local congregations and over 1200 volunteers each year. I remembered this because this Campaign is another big ask. And I know some of us aren’t sure if we’re ready. But you’ve shown me time and again that when we are committed to something, we can do more than we could ever do alone. And so, I said yes to leading this Campaign because I believe in the YES at the heart of this community.” She also stressed campaign pledging is very strong to date having raised over $3,400,000 from about 30 advance gift donors but will still take equal sacrifice from all members to reach and surpass our goal of $8 million. She has complete faith that our congregation will achieve our goal.
The campaign is being fast tracked and is set to run for approximately ten more weeks hoping to contact and visit each of the 504 Foothills Church’s households. James D. Klote and Associates Consultant, John Morrison added, “This event was filled with joy and love and a hope for a bright future at Foothills Church. It is truly an honor to be working with so many wonderful people. I am confident the best is yet to come.”
