Glendale, OH – Bethany Episcopal School dedicated its new academic building on September 11. The Most Reverend Michael Curry, presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church was in attendance and conducted the blessing during a worship service held in the gymnasium. Rev. Thomas Breidenthal, current Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Ohio was also in attendance and participated in the day’s events.
Bethany conducted a successful capital campaign using James D. Klote & Associates in 2016 raising over $5.5 million. This was an extraordinary accomplishment since Bethany had a very small donor base and had never conducted a capital campaign before in the over 100-year history of the school.
The Academic Building for grades 3-8 along with a new cafeteria and playscape were the first items to be accomplished from the master plan. Other projects that are currently in progress include a new academic building for the preschool and lower grades as well as other facility upgrades to the aging campus. The entire project was designed to meet LEED standards and includes a brand new geo-thermal heating and cooling system for the entire campus.
Head of School David Gould said,
“We still have so much work to do, but we have also come a long way. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought that we would make it this far and be on our way to putting Bethany on a strong path towards financial sustainability. But, on it we are! Having Bishop Curry with us was just icing on the cake in terms of our celebration. Many thanks to James D. Klote & Associates for helping us in this historic fundraising effort.”
