For Immediate Release

Laredo, TX – Christ Church Episcopal has completed their three-week readiness assessment. The report was presented to the Vestry by Glenn Wagner, James D. Klote & Associates campaign director. Following the review and discussion, the Vestry voted unanimously to move directly into the “A Faithful Past; A Future Foundation” Capital Campaign.
Following the vote, vestry senior warden Jim Moore explained that “A Capital Campaign of this magnitude is challenging to our parish. However, the leadership from our Klote representative is reassuring. It is obvious we could not have done this campaign on our own. We are experiencing a positive response in the parish.”
For one hundred and thirty-seven years, Christ Church Episcopal has been ministering to the Laredo area. It was in the 1850’s, when Episcopal services were first conducted at Fort McIntosh. Then, in 1881 a letter was sent to Bishop Robert W.B. Elliott, missionary Bishop of Western Texas requesting that he visit Laredo. He honored that request and on February 20, 1881 the first official services of Christ Church Episcopal were held in the courtrooms above the Laredo jail.
As they embark on this next part of their journey as a church, the Rector, Reverend Paul A. Frey stated that, “The calm thoughtful, caring, and professional work done by Glenn Wagner has helped our church focus on our long-term hopes and dreams that are enabling us to do the work necessary to achieve them. Having a consultant with the depth of experience, and ability to keep us moving forward is fantastic. Thanks so much to Klote & Associates.”
