Your firm has served St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Montclair extremely well. The consultant gave us everything we needed and expected in the way of professional guidance and support as specified in your proposal and the contract. But more than almost any other consultant I’ve supervised or worked beside in my 45 years of professional life, he maintained an unusually high level of intensity, excitement and organized focus throughout his entire time with us. Whether it was stapling that needed doing at the last minute, creation of a video, or high level strategizing for a meeting set to take place a week hence, he joyfully got it done. As we discussed, I’ve seen similar levels of intense commitment only in some political campaigns and the close parallels between successful political campaigns and church capital campaigns only occurred to me when I saw the consultant working so hard and so well to help us achieve our goals for St. Luke’s.
It was also great to see the consultant become part of our congregation before, during and after our Sunday worship services. I’m sure that this whole-hearted, if temporary, participation in the worship life of the Parish helped him quickly come to know and understand us as perhaps nothing else could. And it certainly helped many parishioners get to know him before he appeared with our volunteers in personal Capital Campaign ‘ask’ visits.
The single best thing our committee did in the preliminary stages of our capital campaign work was to take the considerable time and energy needed to find, review the qualifications of, and interview a number of different consulting firms. As you know, that was a pretty rigorous process. We’re glad we undertook that selection process in a diligent way because, if we hadn’t, we might well have selected some firm other than yours and we would not have had as successful as a result.
