Brighton, MI – The Shepherd of the Lakes Lutheran Church and School kicked off its “Drop the Nets” Capital Campaign with a dinner event filled with food, speakers, music great anticipation. Senior Pastor Mark Milatz spoke about the theme and challenge to over 450 members and friends of the church. The event’s keynote speaker, Rev. Dr. Robert E. Kasper, spoke clearly of how each of us can be a part of the opportunity before us.
Director of Operations and Capital Campaign Co-Chair Andy Kraft noted that, “Our Kick-Off Celebration showed another shining example of the commitment that the SOTL congregation has for bringing His message to Livingston County. Just a few weeks into our campaign, titled ‘Drop the Nets’, we have seen 12% of our members pledge more than a million dollars towards our ministry plan. A ministry plan that builds on an already strong foundation and positions SOTL to be a charter member of the community both as a Christian house of faith, and as a Christian school for decades to come. The addition of more than 22,000 square feet to our already 65,000 square foot facility allows us the ability to continue to provide a shining light for Livingston County. The congregation’s commitment to providing a K-8 Christ centered education is evident in their financial support. We look forward to the next phase of our campaign, and to overall growth and stability here at SOTL.”
Excited for what is to come, Campaign Director Glenn Wagner commented, “I am grateful to be a part of the important history of Shepherd of the Lakes and anticipate a successful Capital Campaign.”
Senior Pastor Mark Milatz remarked, “The first five weeks of our Capital Campaign have exceeded my expectations. With only 62 of nearly 500 families having pledged in the advance phase we nearly topped our highest campaign total ever. Soon we will go far beyond that total. Equally exciting is the positive spirit in the congregation. People are energized and encouraged. I believe that the support of our campaign director has been instrumental in us getting this campaign off to an amazing start.”
