Rhinebeck, NY – The Episcopal Church of the Messiah founded in September of 1852 and located in Rhinebeck, NY is known for its long and close association with its principal benefactor Colonel John Jacob Astor who perished in the sinking of the RMS Titanic on its maiden voyage from Southampton to New York on April 15, 1912.
Throughout its long history, Messiah has seen numerous renovation and restoration projects. Under the guidance of The Rev. Richard R. McKeon, Jr. and the leadership of Co-Chairs Kris Perry and Ed Goff, the Church began an historic and important process and determined to embark upon the first comprehensive Capital Campaign in the history of the Church of the Messiah. To guide this effort, the firm of James D. Klote & Associates, Inc. of Falls Church, VA was engaged; Ray Sim was the Klote consultant who joined with Messiah and was on-site, day-to-day, through the first four months of the internal parish visitation and pledge process.
As Messiah concludes the internal parish visitation portion of the Capital Campaign, it is extremely gratifying to announce that over 80 parishioner pledges have been obtained for a total of $1,772,558. To date, the Capital Campaign has raised 6.4 times the 2016 annual pledge plus plate giving of $275,300!
Fr. McKeon indicated that “The Capital Campaign has been a deeply moving experience for me as your priest. I have witnessed the overwhelming generosity and commitment you all have for this place and its presence and ministry in our community. We are well on our way thanks to all of you, and we will continue our work to ensure that Messiah is here for many generations to come.”
