Algonquin, IL – On Friday, March 7, Light of Christ Lutheran Church (LOC) kicked off the “Forward in Faith” Capital Campaign with a celebration dinner event at D’Andrea Banquets in Crystal Lake. There was a great turnout as attendees celebrated the heritage and the future of Light of Christ. “Funds are being raised to construct a new Church/Ministry Center at the corner of Sleepy Hollow Road and Longmeadow Parkway,” said Campaign Director Doug Clark of James D. Klote and Associates. “With a fundraising goal of $3.6 million, the new Church/Ministry Center will increase space by ~44% in Phase 1, and LOC expects to break ground by the spring of 2018.”
At the event it was announced that approximately 30 families have already committed $1,336,000. Pastor Kendall Koenig reminded attendees that this is about 1/3 of the total amount to be raised and that “God is Good All the Time.” Volunteers plan to visit all member households over the next several weeks to share the vision, pray together and to invite each household to participate in the campaign by making a commitment over the next 3 years. The campaign plans to wrap up the commitment phase by late May.
