$1.34 Million Pledged During “Quiet Phase” of God’s Gifts. Our Responsibility Campaign

Sioux Falls, SD – A new campaign for First Lutheran Church entitled, “God’s Gifts. Our Responsibility”, kicked off officially on Thursday night, November 12’th. Over 200 responded to the invitation and enjoyed an evening of fellowship, delicious food, and great music by the Apostles Band. Co-chairs for the campaign are Brian and Denise Aamlid along with Mitch and Shantel Krebs. During the short program it was announced that in the early “quiet” phase of the campaign 44 individuals (mostly staff, board members, and campaign steering committee members) had already pledged a total of 1.34 million dollars to the effort! The campaign is being directed by a resident consultant from James D. Klote & Associates, the nation’s premier full-time, on-site stewardship consulting firm.

Co-chair Brian Aamlid described this campaign in terms of a sports metaphor. He said, “This is not like a basketball team where there are 5 starters and then a bunch of other guys on the bench. This is like Youth Soccer where everybody plays, everybody participates, and everybody contributes. It’s a campaign where we expect everyone to participate to whatever degree God has blessed them. Every gift is important. Every gift will be celebrated. And every gift will be magnified because we have a five loaves and two fishes kind of God.”

Over the next few months hundreds of personal visits will be conducted in order to invite everyone from the First Lutheran family to participate. The committee respectfully asks that you please receive these fellow members of First Lutheran with joy and open your hearts and minds to what God is calling you to do at this time. And, as Brian Aamlid said, “Please consider joining us on the playing field for this campaign.” The goal is to raise at least 4.7 million dollars in order to meet a number of congregational priorities.
